Case Study Applying Maslows Hierarchy of Needs to Team...

I have already mentioned in my Planning and Development stages that for the purpose of completing the Graded Unit Project, I assisted a service user; whom I assigned the alias of ‘David’, to play a group game of basketball. Now I have completed the activity, I will evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the project as a whole, as well as evaluating the appropriateness of the methods and theories I used in my practice. With the aim of identifying a suitable activity, I cross-referenced the information in David’s support plan with Abraham Maslow’s ‘Hierarchy of Needs’. Maslow’s theory (1943) allowed me to focus on short-term goals to improve his lack of confidence and self-esteem, and how assisting with the development these†¦show more content†¦This reasoning corresponds with Dr. Raymond Meredith Belbin’s ‘Self-Perception Inventory’ (2010), which observed each team member can fulfil more than one role to reach team goals. Nonetheless, my mistake has taught me the importance of effective liaising with other members of staff to maintain effective communication practices. At an informal meeting to review the effectiveness of my activity; my project manager, Margaret McKenzie reviewed my competency and application of care values in practice. Her findings came from feedback given by David, fellow team members, and my supervisor. She identified areas where I had excelled, and some areas where I could improve. Still, The meeting was greatly appreciated, as it gave me a chance to receive constructive feedback in which to enhance my practice. As she read out the feedback, she adopted the role of advocate by holding on to the sheets of paper to ensure the writers of criticism remained anonymous. She went on to say that in arranging the activity, staff members were impressed with my motivational techniques, and efforts to include all service users; which saw a lot of service users request to be involved. She also gave particular praise to my continual adherence to ‘Codes of Practice’ to implement ‘National care Standards’ throughout the process.
